Timothy Olyphant addresses his Once Upon A Time In Hollywood sequel casting

Timothy Olyphant has insisted he has not been cast in The Adventures of Cliff Booth.

The 57-year-old actor had reportedly been linked to the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood sequel - which will be directed by David Fincher - though Olyphant has now insisted rumors of his involvement in the project are false.

Speaking with Screen Rant, the Alien: Earth star said: “I'm in a lovely island of Nantucket working on a thing called Five-Star Weekend with America's favorite, Jennifer Garner.

“The Fincher thing, my involvement in that, I think that's just a rumor that I started. I have not stepped foot on that set, but if and when I do, I'll report back to you.”

The Adventures of Cliff Booth will follow Brad Pitt's titular stuntman, who first appeared in director Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 drama.

The Netflix movie will also star Elizabeth Debicki, Carla Gugino, Scott Caan and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Pitt recently said The Adventures of Cliff Booth was “not really a sequel”, but a new “episode”, in the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood story.

The 61-year-old actor told Deadline: “This is something Quentin Tarantino wrote. It’s an episode, not really a sequel, of the character from Once Upon a Time.

“He didn’t want to direct it at this point, so our friend David Fincher stepped in. We’re gonna start in July, it’s gonna be really fun.”

Tarantino, 62, explained he had chosen not to direct The Adventures of Cliff Booth as he was “unenthused” by the prospect of doing so.

Speaking on The Church of Tarantino podcast, the Pulp Fiction filmmaker explained: “I love this script, but I’m still walking down the same ground I’ve already walked.

“It just kind of unenthused me. This last movie, I’ve got to not know what I’m doing again. I’ve got to be in uncharted territory.”

Tarantino added he felt honored that Fincher, 63, wanted to step up and helm the picture.

He said: “I think me and David Fincher are the two best directors. So the idea that David Fincher actually wants to adapt my work, to me, shows a level of seriousness towards my work that I think needs to be taken into account.”

Although he won’t be directing the movie, Tarantino has written the script, and will earn $20 million for his work.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth will also be a reunion between Pitt and Fincher, who previously collaborated on Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

In Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, fading actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his loyal stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt) struggle to stay relevant in a rapidly changing movie industry.

As their fortunes shift, they cross paths with rising star Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and the looming threat of the Manson Family.

Tarantino is thought to still own the rights to the characters from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, while Sony - which financed and released the film - controls the rights to the movie itself.

Consequently, The Adventures of Cliff Booth is not officially considered as a sequel or prequel, even though it features Pitt’s character.
