Jennifer Lawrence lands next big screen role

Jennifer Lawrence has signed up for sci-fi thriller The Flood.

The Silver Linings Playbook actress will join forces with Zach Cregger on the Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema movie.

Cregger is to write, produce and helm the motion picture, but plot details for the film are yet to be revealed.

The Flood is scheduled to drop on August 11, 2028.

Lawrence looks set to be busy in the coming months, after she recently joined the cast of new romantic comedy One Month Mark.

The 36-year-old actress, who will also serve as producer through her Excellent Cadaver company, is set to team up with Apple Original Films on the upcoming project, which is based on a spec script from Sophie Fleur de Bruijn.

The logline for the movie reads: "She has never made it past a month in a relationship. He has never gone longer than a month without one."

This will mark her fourth Apple Original Film, having worked on Causeway, and Bread and Roses.

Her third is upcoming project What Happens At Night, which will see her star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the Martin Scorsese picture.

The Gothic psychological horror, which has just wrapped filming, has been adapted by Patrick Marber from Peter Cameron's 2020 novel of the same name.

The cast will also feature the likes of Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson and Jared Harris.

However, Lawrence doesn't always land the roles she wants.

Earlier this year, the star claimed she lost out on a part in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood to Margot Robbie because she wasn't "pretty enough".

The star explained that director Quentin Tarantino wanted her to play the tragic Sharon Tate in the 2019 film, but critics deemed her too "ugly" to portray the actress and wife of Roman Polanski, who was murdered by members of the Manson Family cult in 1969.

Jennifer told the Happy Sad Confused podcast: "Well, he did, and then everybody was like, 'She's not pretty enough to play Sharon Tate.'

"I'm pretty sure it's true, or it's that thing where I've been telling the story this way for so long that I believe it. No, but I'm pretty sure that happened.

"Or he was just never considering me for the part, and the internet just, like, went out of their way to call me ugly."
